Now that I wear makeup more frequently, I make it a priority to keep my skin healthy and clean. Wearing makeup is pretty much like wearing a glam mask all day and you want to make sure when you take it off your skin is breakout free, glowing and looking flawless. Here is how I manage to to keep my skin healthy after a long day of wearing makeup.
1. Use Makeup Wipes!
Using the right makeup wipes are very important when trying to get rid of all the makeup on your face (some makeup wipes will actually make you break out even more and can cause redness).Go for makeup wipes that simply gets rid of the makeup, avoid ones that are scented and that "prevent breakouts". I used the brand Simple, their wipes keep my face feeling fresh and clean and does a great job at removing all the makeup.
2. Use a Cleanser & Moisturizer
Using a cleanser is essential when it comes to keeping a breakout free face. Washing your face with a cleanser will ensure that your face is free of any access oils and dirt build up on your face. Try to wash your face twice a day morning and night (especially at night!)
I love to use anything with coconut oil as a moisturizer, or simply Organic Coconut Oil itself. Lately I have been using cocoa butter on my face as well in the morning because it's not as oily as pure coconut oil. You can also use a good coconut oil lotion - Try Shea Moistures Coconut & Hibiscus Lotion, works great too. I'm just a huge coconut oil fan, I swear by it- I will do a post/video on exactly why I love it soon!
3. Use a Facial Mask
Facial Mask are great every now and then - they give you that spa feeling while your at home. It's nothing like deep conditioning your hair and then putting a nice deep cleaning facial mask on your face. The tingling feeling and the aromatic smell really helps to get me to just relax after a long day. The facial mask should only be used a few times a month, it helps to get rid of any access dirt.
4. Use a Facial Scrub
Facial Scrubs are amazing! For some reason they just make me feel like they are automatically getting rid of any blemish that I have. I use a facial scrub at least twice a week. I feel like I need it. My favorite is the St.Ives Apricot Scrub - Blemish Control.
5. Drink Water
Water, Water, Water - is key. If I have a blemish on my fave 9/10 it's because I been slacking on drinking water. Don't get me wrong, I like water, but I love me some juice. Your skin doesn't need juice - it needs water! And lots of it. Make sure you are getting AT LEAST 4-5 glasses a day or even 4 full water bottles (no mini bottles lol)
6. Work Out
Not only will working out get you a step closer to having your dream goal body, it will also get you sweaty and dirty. The sweat will help your body push out all the unnecessary toxins and dirt out of your body and face and the thirst will allow you to drink the amount of water you need to get that beautiful skin that you want!
